Small-town heart on a big prairie sky. Presho sits right on I-90 in Lyman County, perfectly placed between Sioux Falls and Rapid City with quick access to Winner, Chamberlain, Murdo, and Pierre. We’re a community that shows up—at ball games, Music in the Park, holiday open houses, and Friday-night fish fries. Whether you’re visiting, moving, or building a business, you’ll find friendly faces, strong schools, and year-round outdoor fun.

BRIEF HISTORY

Presho took shape in the early 1900s when the railroad reached the area, sparking a lively main street and steady growth across Lyman County. The town was incorporated in 1910 and named for cattleman J. S. Presho. What began as a prairie stop became a service hub for surrounding farms and ranches—and later, an inviting I-90 pit stop for travelers heading east and west. Our story is one of neighborliness, grit, and pitching in when it counts.
